Raising star- David Millar excels at Vuelta a España
David Millar, who had been longing for this day to come, won the individual time-trial on 9th September at Vuelta a España 2006. Fabian Cancellara (CSC) clocked almost the same time as David, and the third best time was set by Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana-Würth). The SAUNIER DUVAL-PRODIR team are happy to share this great moment with David. Overjoyed he exclaimed, "I´m very happy! I´ve been feeling better and better over the past two weeks, and I´m much more confident now. Today´s course was quite taxing and in the last part it was all extremely tight."
For the team´s Sports Manager Mauro Gianetti, this is a special victory: "Every triumph is great, but this one has been particularly good. We´ve believed in David all along, and when he came back, we worked very hard together, so that we can now share this moment of happiness, which he deserves so much."
José Ángel Gómez Marchante made the 13th best time, climbing down in the GC, where he´s now standing 5th, at 2:06 from leader Alejandro Valverde (CEI).
